The kernel for Battleship OS is not something we cooked up in a garage. It comes from a Linux distribution built by and for cybersecurity professionals — the same people who test networks, find vulnerabilities, and harden systems for a living. We chose that foundation on purpose.
A hardened foundation
Our base operating system has years of security-focused development behind it. The kernel is maintained by people who think about attack surfaces professionally. We didn't bolt security on top — we started from the inside out.
Real antivirus, not a checkbox
ClamAV runs real-time scans automatically. Virus definitions update in the background. Most Linux distributions don't include antivirus at all. We do, because security isn't about what's theoretically safe — it's about what's actually protected.
AI that watches with you, not for someone else
Captain can help you understand what's happening on your system, flag unusual behavior, and explain permissions in plain English. Unlike the AI assistants built into Windows and macOS, Captain doesn't report back to a corporation. It works for you.

Battleship OS runs on all of those computers. It installs alongside Windows or replaces it entirely. You get a full desktop with 40+ apps, built-in security, and a familiar layout — no Linux experience needed.
Will my programs work?
Many Windows programs run through our built-in compatibility layer. Common apps like web browsers, office tools, and media players are already included natively. For Windows-specific software, you double-click the .exe and it launches. Some programs with kernel-level anti-cheat, hardware-specific drivers, or aggressive DRM may not be compatible.
Is my computer compatible?
If your computer runs Windows — even an old version — it almost certainly runs Battleship OS. We have no TPM requirement, no CPU list, no hardware gatekeeping. Computers Microsoft rejected run this beautifully.
How do updates work?
Battleship OS uses a standard package manager for updates. Security patches, virus definitions, and tracker lists come from upstream sources that are actively maintained. You control when and whether to apply updates.
What if I get a new computer?
Visit battleshipos.com/account, enter your email and license key, and click "Transfer." Your key activates on the new machine automatically. No support tickets, no waiting.
Do you collect my data?
No. We don't track you, profile you, or sell your information. The only time your computer contacts our server is to check for updates — and even that just sends your license key, not your identity or browsing habits.
